Receiving Game Assignments

Please read ALL parts in order to understand the assigning process! If you did not attend the Kalamazoo seminars please register with KIHOA using the link above.  This way we will have your contact information.

Officials may only receive games from a KIHOA scheduler.  UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should an official accept a game directly from the local ice hockey organization.  Officials found to be working games not assigned through a scheduler will not be allowed to officiate any more games from KIHOA for an amount of time to be determined by the schedulers and the referee-in-chief. This policy is in place to ensure that qualified officials are assigned to each game ensuring the safety of all participants of the game.

Eligibility to Officiate Games

KIHOA will only use eligible officials to work games under its jurisdiction.  In order to be deemed eligible the officials must meet all of the following criteria:

Properly registered and current with USA Hockey.

Must be certified with USA Hockey at classification greater than or equal to the level required to officiate any given game as defined by USA Hockey.

The official must be in a higher age group than the age group of the players in the same game (Senior hockey excluded).  However, the scheduler and referee-in-chief has the right to waive this requirement based on the abilities of the official.

Turning Back a Game

Once an official accepts a game from the scheduler it becomes his/her responsibility.  If an official is unable to work an assigned game he/she must notify the scheduler as soon as possible to allow adequate time to find an eligible replacement.
